Good book to learn the fundamental principles of accounting., August 23, 1997
By A Customer

This book helped me get a good start in my Accounting college courses. It lays out the fundamental principles of Accounting simply and clearly. Its emphasis on the process leading to, creation of, and analysis of financial statements, would be very helpful to anyone who may need to understand just what a company’s financial statements really mean

MyAccountingLab NOT included, September 5, 2011

Amazon Verified Purchase(What’s this?)

This textbook does NOT include a MyAccountingLab access code. If you’re looking to get the textbook as well as the access code, you’re better off buying from your college bookstore as they will have both bundled together ($117) at my college bookstore). You’d think you’d get both the book and the access considering the price at Amazon but no; this important bit of information is buried in the product description.

MyAccountingLab’s customer service (Ben) is is useless in providing you an access code for free even though you’ve purchased the book.

You can purchase a digital copy of the book from MyAccountingLab for $100 but printing any portions of it will include a big watermark across each page as well as a footer with copyright data including your e-mail address. On the plus side, the price includes the access code. It’s not a very big plus though as you can’t sell your book back.

Be careful if buying a used book from e-bay or other third party that supposedly includes the access code. Access codes have an expiration date; once used, it cannot be used again.

Bottom line: Buy the textbook and access code from your college bookstore. Only college bookstores carry this textbook and access code bundle for about $117. No other third party book seller does.

This book has everything you need to know laid out step-by-step and eminently readable. It is the gold standard of accounting books for begining accounting students. What can I say but “buy it”! You will thank yourself for it.

This book is a great refresher. It is easy to read and works examples in a logical step-by-step fashion that non-accountants/non-accounting-majors may need. This book makes a great supplement to formal accounting training (introductory accounting coursework). It would also be very helpful for someone who needs an accounting refresher (like business education majors who plan to take the Praxis II). Check out the table of content to determine if it meets your needs.

Handy little book. Have a 2-inch thick accounting text and use this Schaum’s paperback to make sense of it all. If you are taking Principles of Accounting or Financial Accounting or Accounting 101, this book is perfect for you. I am not the brightest lad and this book helps me to “get it.” Inexpensive and succinct. Ah, if only I could find a woman like that!
